The art world has a long and troubled history in regards to diversity, representation, and access within museums, galleries, non-profit institutions, and the media. Even in 2016, museum exhibitions, publications, and gallery rosters are anything but equal regarding gender, race, and sexual orientation.
What are the systemic issues that create the lack of diversity and how can this lack be addressed? Whose voice is heard, and through what channels is this voice amplified? What are strategies for creating access for a more diverse group of artists?
Join us for a panel discussion hosted by the Strange Fire collective on the topic of diversity and access within the art world. Panelists include:
Kelli Connell, Artist and co-founder of Skylark Editions
Ervin A. Johnson, Artist
La Keisha Leek, Independent Curator & Project Manager, and Curatorial Fellow at the Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation
David Rosenberg, Editor of Slate’s Behold: The Photo Blog
Sasha Wolf, Director of Sasha Wolf Projects
